The first picture that shows up for the Mazda DLC for Mechanic Simulator 2018 is a car dying of rust. Ouch.
(and my Mazda is 7 years old, lives outside full time in the rust belt yet doesn’t have any rust.)
I have no idea if this version is any better than previous versions which were rather simplistic and tiresome. I haven’t purchase this version and, unless I hear otherwise, have no plans to do so based on my previous experience with the franchise.

Yeah, but do you have to get three different clutches to figure out the one you actually need?

That car was only 3 years old at the time :(

Do you live near any of these shops?

I mean....wow. Living in the South you literally never see any rust except occasional rocker panels on a 70s (or earlier) car. Or people who got scraped and never did a touchup, but that’s superficial.

That looks to be a Quebec license plate but I'm not sure.

I think I remember reading somewhere that for at least a while Mazda was only doing a simpler phosphate conversion dip on their bodies, which didn’t give near as much rust protection as a multi-stage dip that most other companies use.

I
have CarMechSim 2018 - it’s not bad, but I only enjoy it in small doses as it does get a bit repetitive after awhile.

I found previous versions to be inaccurate as far as diagnosing problems and swapping parts. There didn’t seem to be any penalty to completely disassembling the car, checking wear on each piece and then replacing what was worn. This is not how it works in a real shop, or even in one’s own driveway.
2015 was a bit better than 2014. I remember being pissed at 2014 for an issue involving spark plugs, and because of the piss-poor graphics I had a hard time telling that these itty bitty things that looked like 8mm bolts were actually the plugs. Then there was the RWD car with a transverse V6; it’s like the developers had no automotive experience outside of checking the oil on their mom’s FWD CUV, and even then didn’t understand what all those greasy things under the hood actually were.
